Masonry & Concrete
The Stonework That Defines a Hill Country Home
Hill Country limestone is one of the things that makes a home out here instantly recognizable — a stacked-stone entryway, a fence line running along the property, a patio that ties the house to the land around it. CMW has been cutting, setting, and finishing stone and concrete work across this region since 1999, and it shows in the details.
This isn’t work we outsource to a specialty crew — masonry and concrete are core to what CMW does, whether it’s a standalone project like a patio or fence, or the finishing touches on a full custom build. Jimmy oversees the stonework the same way he oversees everything else: hands-on, from layout to final grout line.

How a CMW Masonry Project Comes Together
Stonework lives outside, year-round, for decades. Here's how we make sure it's done to last.
-
1
1. Site Visit & Design Discussion
Jimmy walks the space with you — a patio, a fence line, an entryway — and talks through stone selection, layout, and how the finished work should tie into the rest of the property.
-

2. Materials & Detailed Proposal
We select stone and finish options together and provide a clear, itemized proposal covering materials, labor, and timeline — no vague per-foot estimates that grow once work begins.
-

3. Excavation, Forming & Setting
Jimmy's crew handles grading, forming, and pouring where concrete is involved, then sets stone by hand for a finish that fits the site instead of looking assembled from a kit.

4. Final Walkthrough & Warranty
We inspect every joint and surface with you before calling it complete, and back the work with our workmanship warranty.

A Note from Jimmy
“Stonework is the kind of thing people notice without knowing why. A fence line that’s set right, a patio that drains the way it should — that’s not luck, that’s someone taking the time to do it correctly the first time. I still set stone myself. I’m not going to stop.”
— Jimmy Stewart, Founder & Owner, CMW General Contractors
Masonry & Concrete FAQs
Questions Hill Country homeowners commonly ask before starting a stonework or concrete project.
Yes — limestone is the material most associated with the region, and it’s what we work with most often on fences, entryways, and exterior accents. We can also source other stone types depending on the look you’re going for, but limestone remains the most popular choice for good reason: it fits the landscape.
In most cases, yes. Matching existing stonework depends on the age and source of the original material, but Jimmy will assess what you have and source stone that blends as closely as possible, whether you’re extending a fence line or adding an accent that ties into your home’s existing exterior.
A standard patio can often be completed in a couple of weeks, while a larger outdoor living space with a kitchen or pavilion takes longer depending on scope. CMW gives you a realistic timeline in your proposal based on the specific project.
We primarily handle concrete and masonry as part of CMW’s own residential and commercial projects, but we also take on standalone slab, patio, and stonework projects that aren’t attached to a larger build. Reach out and Jimmy will let you know if it’s a good fit.
To some extent — concrete curing and mortar setting are both affected by temperature and moisture, so we plan around Hill Country weather patterns when scheduling stonework and concrete pours. Jimmy will factor this into your timeline during the proposal stage.
Absolutely — a lot of our masonry and concrete work is exactly this: adding a patio, fence, or stone accent to a home that’s already built. It doesn’t need to be part of a larger renovation or new build.
